Directly west of Kangaroo Island – and about half-way between Brisbane and the Gold Coast – is the green suburb of Steiglitz, known locally as Cabbage Tree Point. The area is popular with families, couples, singles and retirees. The most predominant housing style in Cabbage Tree Point is single-detached dwellings. There is a mix of architectural styles in the area including renovated Queenslanders, post-war housing, and chamferboard and brick and tile houses.

The area boasts the Meridien Marinas as well as outdoor activity areas such as the Cabbage Tree Point Conservation Park and Charlie Hammel picnic grounds on the main channel. Major highlights of the area are the lakes and wetlands to the east of the suburb which from the Southern Moreton Bay islands.

With easy access to Moreton Bay from the Pacific Motorway, Steiglitz is an appealing suburb for those wanting a ‘sea-change’ close to Brisbane and the Gold Coast. There is one primary and one secondary school in the local area. Given its location halfway between Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Cabbage Tree Point has access to all the facilities found in major cities.
